Cameron Park Zoo, 1701 N. Fourth St., will have its annual Zoo Boo event at 6 tonight.

Children can trick-or-treat as they visit the herpetarium, the Flower Garden Reef and the Asian Forest. They must be accompanied by an adult.

Admission cost $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 12.

Free Mayborn admission

Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum Complex, 1300 S. University-Parks Drive, is offering guests free admission from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The museum’s newest puppet show, “Showdown at Jackalope Junction,” will be presented at 2 and 4 p.m. The museum’s latest exhibits and hands-on activities also will be accessible to guests.

Cheer for Charity

Cheer for Charity, a cheerleading exhibition featuring local squads and benefiting the American Cancer Society, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Midway Middle School, 800 Hewitt Drive.

The event is hosted by Heart of Texas Cheer and Dance. Tickets cost $5 at the door.

Registered squads include teams from ICON, Midway, China Spring and Waco high schools and Robinson Junior High.

McCulloch museum

The McCulloch House Museum, 407 Columbus Ave., will present a program about its new exhibit, “Early Medicine of the 19th Century,” from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The exhibit covers diagnostic instruments, Civil War and frontier medicine, horseback physicians’ medicine and major medical advances.

Drs. Watson Arnold and Robert Corwin will be on hand to provide insight into the exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display from 2 to 5 p.m. on weekends through early 2010.

Barbecue benefit

Christie’s Crew 4 the Cure is sponsoring a barbecue and silent auction benefit for Christie Watson at noon Sunday at Trading House Creek Bar and Grill, 4553 Lake Felton Parkway (Farm-to-Market Road 2957).

Watson is battling breast cancer.

The event will include live music from The Bill and Phil Show, a silent auction, horseshoes, a kids’ play area and the Cowboys football game on television.

Barbecue plates will cost $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Pastel demonstration

The Art Guild of Central Texas will present a painting demonstration by Austin pastel artist Jeri Salter at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Waco Charter School, 615 N. 25th St. A reception will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Salter has devoted herself to capturing the rapidly vanishing landscapes of Central Texas.

The program is free and open to the public.
