Officials on Friday were investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a family’s Hubbard home and killed their four pets.
Hubbard volunteer firefighter Wil Geltmeier said his department responded to a fire call just after 6 a.m. Friday at a house at 405 NE 5th St.
Geltmeier said a man and a woman got out of the house safely, but the family’s dog, bird and two rats were killed by flames.
The couple’s children were not home at the time of the fire, Geltmeier said.
The house was a total loss, he said.
Mount Calm and Malone volunteer fire departments assisted in fighting the blaze.
