Teens' conditions improve after being injured in crash near West

Monday, November 17, 2008

The conditions of two teens injured in a deadly rollover accident near West on Friday night have improved, officials said Sunday

Tyler Bettge, 16, and Keri Boyett, 17, were injured in a wreck that killed Katherine Gant, 17, of West.

Gant died about 10:45 p.m. when her Toyota Rav4 rolled over on Farm-to-Market Road 2114 at the Czech Hall Road intersection in West, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said.

Bettge has been upgraded from critical to serious, a Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center spokeswoman said Sunday. The spokeswoman would not comment on the nature of his injuries. Boyett, who suffered broken bones, was listed in fair condition Sunday, the spokeswoman said.

Fred??? Your Uncle Marvin may very well have spent a wee bit too much "quality time" with you throughout your childhood. I am certain that's got alot to do with why you've gotten your brain stuffed so far up your backside orifice in the present day. But like we've already discussed, there are successful counseling and mentor programs in the area that can be taylor-fitted to suit the specific needs of your personal issues. All that you're doing here though, well, is just racking up a universal collection of bad karma woes to come against yourself in the future. Can't you see that? When it all comes back around on you, and believe me it will, God help you then, Fred, because I no longer will be able to. That stuff with Uncle Marvin is in the past, Fred. It wasn't your

fault. Let it go now. Just let it go.........

It sounds unanimous that we all love the community of West (except Fred) and we want the very best for our students. I understand the idea of a "Shattered Dreams" program for our High school and Jr high has been discussed. How far the discussion has gone I don't know but I challenge our community to make an effort to make this happen and make it a success. The communities that have implemented this program in their schools have experienced a dramatic drop in alcohol and drug related incidents. If you are interested in seeing how this works go to www.tabc.state.tx.us/educa/shatdreams.htm and then call our high school or our middle school or our school board and become involved in a positive effort to make a difference for our kids in our wonderful community. If we ALL pitch in even in just making phone calls, we can make a difference. You don't have to commit big just commit!!!

I don't have kis in the West school, but I do have a great friend from West. Which I want add he is a great kid and person I can only hope my boys are as great as him. His parents have done a great job raising him. I think before anyone is quick to judge this town or these kids they should remember this could be any of us. So tonight when we kiss our children say and extra prayer they we can keep them say. Also, I hope these families can be normal in the future whatever normal is. It is really sad and true bad things happen to good people everyday. May you find comfort knowing that there are really families with some since praying for you.

I dont' have children in the West school, but do have a good friend in that town. For the record I can only hope my boys turn out the way that this kids has his parents have done a great job raising him. My heart is broken for these families and hope that in the future they can be normal agai whatever normal maybe. I think we all need to stop and think that this could be any of us at anytime. So before you make a judgement be thankful and pray for these families that are suffering.

Fred who ever you are ALL I have to say is first off you should be ashamed of yourself. And obviously you have some issues if you so feel the need to talk about West a town that comes together no matter what. Have you not noticed the Waco has the 7th highest murder rate billboards around Waco. I hope your an an adult, obvious not a good judge of anything but half of what you hear is hear say and the news adds info to the stories to make them interersting. GET A LIFE DUDE.And you have to answer to God when you get to his gates. Good Luck with that one Buddy. I will keep you in my prayers because you need Jesus in your life.

i have lost a friend, a classmate, and a shoulder to lean on. i never thought it could be so hard to arrive at school knowing that one of your fellow classmates face wont't be seen anymore. or to even know one of the greatest smile won't be smiling anymore. Katie is greatly missed and will remain loved forever in my heart. Keri i love u and miss you siting next to me in English class..hope you come back soon. Tyler you are making progress everyday and hopefully you will recover quickly. i pray for both of you. i love you keri.

AS SOME PEOPLE NEED TO BE REMINDED ONCE AGAIN THAT KEEP TALKING BAD ABOUT WEST PEOPLE AND DRINKING. AT LEAST THEY ARE NOT DRIVING DOWN WACO DRIVE AND VALLEY MILLS DRFIVE SNORTING COCAINE, SMOKING CRACK, SMOKING WEED, POPPING HEROIN PILLS, AND BREAKING INTO CARS ALL OVER WACO LIKE OTHER KIDS FROM WACO AREA. I'M NOT EVEN FROM WACO AREA BUT CAN SAY THAT I'VE NEVER SCENE WEST PEOLE USING DRUGS LIKE I HAVE SCENE IN WACO. YOU CAN DRIVE DOWN VALLEY MILLS DRIVE WITH WINDOWS DOWN AND IT SMELLS LIKE A BURNING "MARIJUANA FARM" ON FRIDAY NIGHT! THEY NEED A BREATHALIZER FOR MARIJUANA AND STOP WORRYING ABOUT ALCOHOL SO MUCH. MADD NEEDS TO WORRY MORE ABOUT DRUGS THAN ALCOHOL. FORMING AN ORGANIZATION CALLED "CAMM" (CITIZENS AGAINST MAD MOTHERS)NEEDS TO BE FORMED ASAP IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. WE COULD ALL GAIN A LITTLE MORE RESPECT FOR AN ORGANIZATION THAT FIGHTS "DRUG INTOXICATED" DRIVERS INSTEAD OF "DRUNK DRIVERS". DRUGS ARE THE REAL PROBLEM THESE DAYS AND NOT ALCOHOL.
