Election result: Precinct 3 McLennan County Commissioner Joe Mashek, of West, seeking his fourth term, easily beat Darrell Anderson, a deputy in the McLennan County tax assessor-collector’s office who lives in Chalk Bluff, in the Democratic primary, 3,187 to 1,884.

Up ahead: Mashek faces GOP nominee Danny Volcik in November.
Precinct 3: Includes portions of Waco, West, Leroy, Tours, Ross, Gholson, Elm Mott and Chalk Bluff.
Issues: Anderson promised improved accountability to voters, highlighting what he said was Mashek’s secretive efforts to build an expensive clock tower and the poor condition of county roads in the precinct. Mashek touted his accomplishments, including replacing every wooden bridge in his precinct, 16 of them, and his support for a groundwater conservation district.
