Former local Baptist minister Matt Baker, arrested last month in Kerrville in the death of his wife, saw his bond doubled Tuesday morning after he was transferred to McLennan County.
Baker was transferred Monday from Kerr County to the McLennan County Jail, a jail spokeswoman said. Justice of the Peace Frank Culpepper set Baker’s bond at $400,000 for the murder charge, double the $200,000 bail set in Kerr County after his arrest Sept. 21 in the April 2006 death of his 31-year-old wife, Kari Lynn Baker, the mother of their two daughters.
Baker was working as a substitute teacher in Kerrville at the time of his arrest.
