Ted Nugent: Nomadic Nugents shed their stuff; have some

Sunday, June 15, 2008

Our heads are still spinning from the whirlwind velocity of the last five years of moving from place to place in Central Texas.

Forced from our beautiful Michigan dream home and a lifetime in the Winter Water Wonderland by an infestation of unlivable toxic mold, we soon found ourselves comfortable and happy in the great Lone Star State.

If there was any culture shock, it is more likely that we caused it rather than felt it.

First settling in on the breathtaking riverine wildgrounds of China Spring, we shortly moved to neighborly Crawford for a more convenient school commute for son Rocco. Even though I'm sure that the president appreciated the increased security we brought to the area, we didn't stay there very long.

Driven by a demand for upgrade at every turn, we then moved right smack dab into Waco for yet another change. Those three moves equal the total number of moves that I had made in the first 55 years of my life. And did I mention how I so very dislike moving? Not fun.

Well, Rocco has now proudly graduated as an all-A honor student from Waco High School, and here we go again.

As he pursues his adventurous American Dream, Shemane and I have decided that the simpler life back on SpiritWild Ranch is the way to go. Actually, we took a vote and the three dogs and cat out-voted the rest of us, so it's back to China Spring where the deer and antelope and the guitar players play.

But in order to make it truly simpler, we have decided to reduce the amount of stuff we have to relocate yet again on an always laborious move. And boy do we have a lot of stuff.

Neat stuff to say the least, and we have decided to sell most of it. With proceeds going for various youth and military charities, we have quite a line up of different goodies for public auction to be held at 7216 Fish Pond just off of Highway 6 next Saturday and Sunday. It's going to be wild.

From a lifetime of fascinating world adventure, we have some very special custom furniture, beautiful antler artwork and accessories made from the majestic beasts that we have hunted all over the globe.

Big game trophies

We will be selling unique statues and artifacts and many stunning big game animal heads mounted by award-winning wildlife taxidermy artists and more.

Some of the huge stag antlers on bleached skulls are just what the doctor ordered for that rustic western motif. Plus, that Nugent signature is guaranteed to bring the new lucky owners much good luck. At least that's what they tell me.

It'll be run by an experienced professional auction outfit from right here in Central Texas.

We invite everyone to come see the cool stuff of which we are letting go.

Many of the items represent certain moments in time and powerful memories for the Nugent family. But for practical reasons, we have decided to part with them.

Again, with all our charity work these days, the sales will benefit many good, important causes.

So come check it out next weekend. Some very interesting things that might catch your fancy. But don't be surprised if some long-haired dude is skulking about the premises snatching up some stuff and running off with it.

Though we have decided to sell a huge array of goodies collected over a wild lifetime, the pack rat within me just very well may have second thoughts.

Ted Nugent is a Waco-based musician and television show host.
