In 1937, researchers from the Federal Writers Project came to Waco to interview men and women who had once been held in slavery. The oral histories of these individuals, already in their 80s and 90s by 1937, were recorded and kept in the Library of Congress. In honor of Black History month, the Tribune-Herald invited local African-American leaders to read these stories for a multimedia presentation.
