Forty piano, violin and voice students of Tabitha Hymer’s Piano and Violin Studio gave two separate hourlong performances to audiences Dec. 12 at the Waco Hippodrome Theatre.
Gymnastic ribbon dancers, groups of children butterflies, child dancers with long flowing fans, scarves or lighted LED gloves moved to the piano, violin, fiddle or voice music in colored lights. Tavin Maynard controlled the spotlights, multicolored lights and sound systems.
A large variety of pieces were played, including violin renditions of “Ragtime Annie” with guitar accompaniment; “William Tell Overture,” “To a Wild Rose” duet, “Allison’s Waltz” and “Ashoken Farewell;” piano music included “Great Balls of Fire”, “Moonlight Fantasy,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Let It Go.” Vocals included “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” and “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” sung with a ribbon dancer in the background.
The performance also benefited the Salvation Army with suggested donations of $1 per ticket. Nearly $300 was raised for the charity, which helps feed Waco’s homeless population.
