The Waco Crime Stoppers program was recognized at the 29th annual Texas Crime Stoppers Conference held in Seguin in October.

An awards banquet was held to honor the accomplishments of local Crime Stoppers programs during the 2016 calendar year.

The Waco program was presented two awards from the Office of the Governor at the banquet: Productivity Award Most Cases Cleared (population 200,001-350,000) and Radio Competition for Best Crime of the Week.

It was the sixth year in a row that Waco Crime Stoppers and its radio partners — La Ley, Power 108 and The Eagle — have won the radio competition.

Attending the conference were Waco police Officer Steve Dieterich, Waco Crime Stoppers coordinator, and Officer Sofie Martinez, and board members Rene Duffy, RoseMary Mayes and Nancy Drexler. Duffy was the Texas State Crime Stoppers Board Member of the Year in 2014.
