Elizabeth Watson, a ninth-grader at Vanguard College Preparatory School, is a finalist in the Take Care of Texas Video Contest.
Take Care of Texas is a program of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Students across Texas submitted 30-second videos about positive ways to care for the state. The contest receives hundreds of entries each year.
Elizabeth’s video is one of six finalists in the 9th-12th grade division. The contest includes a public voting period, which continues until Jan. 25, for people to vote for their favorite video.
Prizes are provided by the contest partner, Waste Management of Texas Inc. The first-place winner gets a $2,500 scholarship, while second place is a $1,500 scholarship and third place is a $500 scholarship. GoPro camera packages can be won by the top three students in grades 6-8.
