Pack of Hope check

Casa de Castillo hosted a Pack of Hope fundraiser on Oct. 25 with 25 percent of all sales benefiting the nonprofit organization.

The restaurant presented a $1,000 check to Pack of Hope.

The Pack of Hope is a McLennan County 501©(3) organization with the sole mission to erase child hunger in McLennan County by supplying school districts and eligible students will backpacks filled with nutritious food to prevent hunger from Friday through Sunday while they are not in school.

Pack of Hope serves 17 of the 18 school districts and one charter school in McLennan County, providing more than 1,000 packs of food to the schools each week.

The Pack of Hope is a completely volunteer-based organization. All funds raised help support the backpack program for McLennan County. It costs $195, or 165 pounds of food, to provide one child a pack for a year.
