Midway High School has five orchestra students selected as All-State musicians by the Texas Music Educators Association, an honor that only the top 3 percent of musicians who initially audition achieve.

The following students will perform with the Texas All-State Orchestra in San Antonio in mid-February, as part of the 2018 TMEA Convention: Wilson Burnett, cellol; Haeun Moon, violin; Augusta Schubert, violin; Sarah Shultz, viola; Hayoung Moon, cello (first chair).

All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. All-State students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the TMEA Convention, followed by performances before thousands.

The Midway orchestra director is Beau Benson.
