The McGregor Rotary Club welcomed the first-ever McGregor ISD student body Interact Club to a lunch and presentation in November.
Interact Clubs are independent of Rotary Clubs but operate under the same motto of “Service Above Self.”
The presenting McGregor High School students were Kaylen Sloan, vice president of the club; Katy Scott, treasurer; Bethany Adcock, secretary; and Sam Dutschmann, sergeant at arms. President Charlotte Ford was not able to be present but prepared the presentation for the group.
McGregor ISD faculty sponsors Jennifer West Millsap and Todd McCauley also joined the students.
The club has attracted strong attendance at the high school since its origin in the fall. The club recently participated in the Operation Christmas Child shoebox drive and the McGregor Christmas Parade.
The club’s principal project will be a portable store on the McGregor High School campus, where spirit items, school supplies and light refreshments will be available.
To maintain membership, students must sustain a minimum of 10 hours of community service per year and attend the monthly meetings on campus.
