Caritas of Waco has received a $30,000 matching grant from the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Foundation in support of its Intensive Case Management Program.
Case management provides guidance for individuals living at or near the poverty level through a process to help them overcome financial, emotional, educational, employment and other barriers they face.
The program’s goal is to assist people in moving out of poverty by becoming more self-sufficient and less reliant on emergency assistance programs. Caritas case management staff offers a variety of services that individuals need to reach desired goals.
Donations to the case management program received through the remainder of 2017 can be applied to the matching grant. Contributions may be made online at www.caritas-waco.org by clicking on the “Donate” button — donors are encouraged to indicate that their gift is to be applied to the matching grant. Financial gifts may also be mailed to Caritas at 300 S. 15th St., Waco, TX 76701.
“This grant is a strong indicator of the importance and value of our case management program in producing positive outcomes in the lives of many people,” said Tammy Stevens, director of client services at Caritas. “During the four years that we have operated case management at Caritas, we have been able to serve approximately 550 families, “ she added.
