Class acts

Three area students graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi during fall commencement on Dec. 16.

Marcus Johnson, of Waco, graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

Elayne Hill, of Waco, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Savannah Robinson, of China Spring, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Vinodh Reddy, of Waco, received a Master of Science degree in information technology management in December from Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

Students named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, are Andrew Burleson, of Lorena; Paige Huggins, of Woodway; Amber Rhodes, of Waco; and Sarah Ridgway, of Crawford.

Students named to honor rolls at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls for the fall semester are Taylor Mordecai, of McGregor, provost’s honor roll; and Jonathan Millington, of Waco, dean’s list.

Nancy Bowman, of Lorena, and Theresa Arias, of Hillsboro, were recently initiated into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Pitching in

The University High School soccer teams have more than 500 kids signed up to be a Soccer Buddy.

The Soccer Buddy program is a mentorship program with the school’s soccer players who serve as big brothers and sisters to the elementary kids in the University High sector.

The elementary kids go to the high school beginning on Saturdays during the months of January, February and March. They will learn soccer skills as well as life skills.
