Samuel Vanhoozer and fellow Boy Scouts with Troop 453 completed Samuel’s Eagle Scout project at the Cameron Park Zoo on Dec. 16.
The project at the zoo’s Brazos River shorebird aviary included hauling fresh sand to the beach in the exhibit and building “shipwrecked” shipping crates to cover pipes.
Home Depot in Waco and the Chick-fil-A restaurant near Baylor provided donations and support to the project.
Samuel, 14, is homeschooled in Waco. His parents are Kari and Russell Vanhoozer. He is a member of First Baptist Church Waco and enjoys playing baseball and tennis, performing sleight-of-hand tricks, and volunteering for Historic Waco Foundation.
