Nick A. Galvan, a Connally High School graduate, was promoted to sergeant major on Jan. 26 at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina.
His father, Dr. Nick Galvan, pinned the sergeant major chevron on his collar during the promotion ceremony.
Present at the ceremony were his wife, Beth, his mother, Ada, members of his unit at Camp Lejeune, plus Marines that served with him during his career in the Marine Corps, including some who served together on their first deployment to Iran in 2003.
Galvan has completed four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He also has been an instructor at the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, a senior instructor at the Staff NCO Academy at Quantico, Virginia, and the director of Sergeants Academy at 29 Palms Marine Corps Base in California. He is the new battalion sergeant major for the Artillery Battalion at Camp Lejeune.
Galvan, his wife and two sons live at Camp Lejeune.
