The city of Waco will hold a recycling event for batteries/bulbs, oil, antifreeze and paint (BOPA) and scrap tires on Saturday at the Waco Solid Waste Operations Center at 501 Schroeder Drive, from 7 a.m. to noon.
Waco residents can bring a variety of items that should not go to the landfill on that day. Each person dropping off items should be prepared to show proof of Waco residency with a driver’s license and Waco utility bill. For more information, call the Solid Waste Customer Service at 299-2612.
The Young at Heart Dance Club will hold a Halloween dance Tuesday night from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Sul Ross Senior Center, 1414 Jefferson Ave.
The band Just Country will perform. Costumes are encouraged, and a costume contest will be held. People may also bring food to share.
Cost is $5, and all are welcome.

Wilton Lanning will give a program on the 100-year anniversary of Richfield Army Field and Camp MacArthur during the Kiwanis Club of Waco Seniors meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Golden Corral on Valley Mills Drive.

Toy Box fundraiser
Bosque County Child Protective Services will hold its inaugural Toy Box fundraiser Saturday at the Meridian Civic Center, 308 River St. in Meridian. Cost is $10 per person or two unwrapped toys. All proceeds benefit foster children in Bosque County.
The event is from 6-8 p.m. with a live auction beginning at 7 p.m. Dinner will be served.

Wildlife Rehab of Lorena will host a fundraiser Saturday at Papa Joe’s Texas Saloon, 1505 N. I-35 frontage road in Lorena.

The McLennan Extension Education Association will sponsor a fundraiser for 4-H Scholarships on Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at Applebees, 614 N. Valley Mills Drive, in Waco.
