The Waco Immigration Alliance and the Community Race Relations Coalition will host a Dinner and Dreamers event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church parish hall, 305 N. 30th St.
The program will be an update on the Dream Act with a question-and-answer session. The event is free and open to all, but a reservation is required. Reserve a space by calling 717-7903 or emailing Jo@welterfamily.org.
Fish fry Friday
Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council No. 13902 will have a drive-thru shrimp and fish fry from 3:30 to 7:15 p.m. every Friday evening during Lent, through March 23, at the Westphalia Parish hall, 3000 State Highway 320.
Plates will be to-go only, and serving will end early if food is sold out. Plates cost $10 and include fried shrimp, fried fish, beans, slaw and french fries.
Doll making class
The Waco Hispanic Museum will be having a corn husk doll making class from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 2815 Speight Ave.
There will also be a short program on Hispanic women in Waco, in honor of women’s history month. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 548-9730.
Teen issues forum
The Waco Youth Council will host a teen issues forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bledsoe-Miller Community Center, 300 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
All area teens are encouraged to participate. The goal is to have teenagers identify and discuss the most important issues they face today. The forum will be facilitated by Waco Youth Council members.
Refreshments will be provided. The event is free, but groups are asked to make reservations by contacting Earl Stinnett at 750-8018 or email@example.com.
The McLennan-Hill chapter of the Czech Heritage Society of Texas will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the West Community Center, 205 W. Tokio Road.
The program will be about homemade quilts. Please bring family quilts. Members and non members are welcome to attend.
The Area Agency on Aging is hosting a Medicare program from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at its offices, 1514 S. New Road.
New Medicare cards will be arriving in April, and participants will learn about the changes included with the cards.
