The Hewitt Lions Foundation hosts a benefit golf tournament April 6 at Twin Rivers Golf Course, 1000 Bear Ridge Drive.
Entry fee is $85 for a single player or $300 for a four-man team. Tee time is noon.
Proceeds will go toward the purchase of an additional Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screening machine. The machine will be used to provide free vision screening for children and adults in the community.

Janet Jackson, president of the Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association, will speak on election training and convention preparation at the McLennan County Republican Women’s meeting on March 13 at 11:30 a.m. in the Brazos Room of the Waco Hilton, 113 S. University Parks Drive.
Jackson wears many hats in Texas politics. In addition to being president of TRCCA, she is the chairwoman of the Bosque County Republican Party and has served as the state Republican executive committeewoman from Senate District 22. Her political focus has been on training county parties and election personnel.

Avery Stone benefit
There will be a benefit for Avery Stone, a 2-year-old from West who was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Christmas Day 2017, on March 11 at KC Hall, 2547 Jerry Mashek Drive, in West.
A barbecue brisket lunch will be serviced, and a raffle and silent auction will be held. All proceeds will go directly to the family to help with medical bills. Lunch is $10.
