Praise workshop

The Women’s Ministry of New Hope Baptist Church, 915 N. Sixth St., will host its 10th annual Prayer and Praise Workshop Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

This year’s speakers are ministers Judith Hatter, Karen Hicks, Carroll Wells, and Emma Wilson. The keynote speaker is Pastor Tara Briscoe, Pastor of Mt. Zion AME Church of Italy, Texas.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans’ monthly meeting is Tuesday at Poppa Rollo’s Pizza, 703 N. Valley Mills Drive. The annual birthday dinner honoring Gens. Lee and Jackson will begin at 6 p.m.

Fall-prevention program

A Matter of Balance, a fall-prevention program with an exercise component, begins Tuesday at the Rapid Recover Center, 5801 Crosslake Parkway. The class is free, and meets from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. each Tuesday for eight weeks and is sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging.
