Fit 4 A Cause, an organization with the purpose of bringing families together through fitness activities and helping nonprofit organizations in Waco, will be hosting a New Year, New “Fit” You Bash on Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. at the Woodway Family Center.
This free family fitness event will feature Zumba with Lizette Luna, Raychel Mynarcik and Ben Rosas; Tabata with Van Davis; and yoga with Michelle Williams.
This workout is appropriate for all fitness levels. Participants are asked to bring their yoga mats, water to drink, and jars of peanut butter to be donated to Caritas.

Mission Waco’s 56-bed homeless shelter, called My Brother’s Keeper, located at 1217 Mary Ave., is open for adult males and females without cost during the approaching cold weather. Residents are requested to register at the Meyer Center, 1226 Washington Ave., during the day, and check in by 6:30 p.m.
Due to the extreme cold, check-in is extended at the shelter itself until 10 p.m. to be sure everyone has a safe place. In case of filled bed-capacity, additional mattresses will be secured.
Historical writer Jayme Blaschke will present a program on his book “Inside the Texas Chicken Ranch” at the Wednesday meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Waco Seniors.
The club meets at Golden Corral restaurant on Valley Mills from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Keep Waco Beautiful, in partnership with Waco Parks and Recreation, is having its annual Chipping of the Green Christmas tree recycling from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the parking lot of Paul Tyson field.
Anyone, regardless of city of residence, can recycle their tree.
Spirit Bells perform
Spirit Bells, the 2017 winner of the Handbell Award given by the National Federation of Music Clubs, will perform a short recital from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Waco Federation of Women’s Club, 2900 Bosque Blvd.
