The Pruit Memorial Symposium Committee and the Baylor University Libraries are sponsoring a performance of “She Sang Freedom,” featuring artist and storyteller Tammy Kernodle. The performance will start at 7 p.m. Thursday in Bennett Auditorium and is in celebration of Black History Month.
Kernodle will sing the songs of Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples and Roberta Flack. Several freedom and protest songs will be experienced through live performance and stories.

Dinner, Dance, Delight
First Lutheran Church will have its annual fundraiser, “Dinner, Dance and Delight,” Saturday at the Lacy Lakeview Civic Center, 505 E. Craven Ave.
Advance tickets are $20 for singles, $30 for a couple and $80 for a table of six. At the door, tickets are $25, $35 and $90, respectively.
Baris Italian Restaurant will cater, with music by DJ Jim Alvarado. A silent auction will be held, with proceeds benefiting Compassion Ministries of Waco and Mosaic.

Reicher open house
Reicher Catholic High School will have an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 11. Attendees will be able to talk with faculty, staff and parents; receive information on curriculum, tuition, financial aid and services; learn from students about athletics, clubs and student life; and tour the school facilities.

Moody library fundraiser
A fundraiser for the Moody Community Library is set for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Moody Elementary School Cafeteria, 107 Core Lee Lane.

Bosqueville United Methodist Church will offer an Ash Wednesday Drive-Thru Event from 7 to 11 a.m. Feb. 14 in the front parking lot of the church, with Pastor Susan Mathis officiating.
