A fundraiser is scheduled for Feb. 18 at the Bellmead Civic Center for Josh Stone, who is battling carcinoid cancer.
Stone, a La Vega High School graduate and master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, faces medical expenses to treat his cancer after failing to respond to traditional chemotherapy and radiation.

Charles Dixon will provide tips on interviewing to the Christian Writers Workshop at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at First Baptist Woodway, 13000 Woodway Drive.
In compiling a biography of First Baptist Woodway’s longtime pastor, the Rev. Mike Toby, Dixon has interviewed numerous people and will share what he has learned about interviewing techniques and preparation.
The workshop, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.
Midway art reception
A reception celebrating an exhibition of fine art by Midway ISD art teachers is Feb. 22 from 6-8 p.m. at the Midway High School Theater entrance gallery, 8200 Mars Drive.
The work will highlight the diverse talent and scope of personal work from Midway ISD K-12 art teachers.
