The League of Woman Voters will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday in the East Waco Library Meeting Room.

The agenda includes planning a candidate forum for primary candidates Feb. 13, writing a nonpartisan voter’s guide to local elections, and increasing voter turnout in 2018.

League of Women Voters of Waco is a nonpartisan group of neighbors working together to become better citizens.

Christmas show

Joy’s School of Dance will put on “Christmas Joy” shows open to the public at 2 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Midway Performing Arts Center.

The group will provide a box in the lobby for Toys for Tots donations.

Admission is $5 per person and free for children under 2 years old. Tickets are available through Friday at the Joy’s School of Dance office or before each performance at the door. Call 776-1797 for more information.

Justice Barn opening

Greater Waco Legal Services is having an open house and ribbon cutting from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at its new Waco Justice Barn facility, 1700 Colcord Ave.

Light refreshments will be served.

Filing ends Monday

Filing ends Monday for candidates interested in running in the March 6 primary and Nov. 6 general election.

The deadline includes filings for precinct chairs, county judge, district judges, county commissioners and other local offices that will appear on the ballot.

Candidates can file at the McLennan County Republican Party headquarters, 539 N. Valley Mills Drive, and the McLennan County Democratic Party headquarters, 3321 Franklin Ave. Both party headquarters will accept candidate forms from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.

The last day to register to vote is Feb. 5.
