City of Waco offices will be closed Monday for Christmas.

Please note the following information regarding the city’s solid waste services for the holidays:

  • Saturday: Christmas Eve observed. The Cobbs Recycling Center will be closed. The landfill will be open during normal business hours.
  • Monday: Christmas Day. The solid waste offices, landfill and Cobbs Recycling Center will be closed. Monday’s trash will be collected Dec. 27.

Holiday closures are listed below for the following City of Waco facilities:

Cameron Park Zoo, Waco Mammoth National Monument and the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. They will remain open every other day during the holidays.

Cottonwood Creek Golf Course will only be closed Christmas Day.

The Waco-McLennan County Libraries will be closed Saturday through Monday. They will also be closed New Year’s Day.

West Christmas exhibit

An exhibit of toys, dolls and Christmas trees is on display for the holiday season at the History of West Museum, 112 E. Oak St.

Admission is free. Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The exhibit runs through Dec. 30.

Candlelight service

Bosqueville United Methodist Church, 7327 Rock Creek Road will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Community meal

The Salvation Army’s Christmas Holiday Community Meal will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at 300 Webster Ave.

It will be a traditional Christmas meal, including turkey, trimmings and pie, plus a few special gifts to help spread holiday cheer.

Volunteers can sign up by calling 756-7271.

New Year’s Eve event

The Heart of Texas Cowboy Church will have a New Year’s Eve Mutton Bustin Dec. 31 at its arena, 5101 Kendall Lane.

All kids are welcome, with a weight limit of 55 pounds. Books will open at 1 p.m., and riding will start at 2 p.m.

Gear will be provided for kids who do not have their own. Chuck Wagon will be open with refreshments. For more information, call 652-0828.
