MCC winter break, registration

McLennan Community College will be closed Monday through Jan. 5 for the winter holidays. Online registration for the spring semester will continue through the break at www.mclennan.edu.

Highlander Central in the Enrollment Services Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Dec. 21, and Jan. 4 and 5.

‘Chasing Coral’ screening

Waco Friends of Peace/Climate will screen the documentary “Chasing Coral” at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Poppa Rollo’s Pizza, 703 N. Valley Mills Drive. The film explains the biology and importance of coral reefs and their ongoing destruction by anthropogenic climate change. The screening is free.

Planned Parenthood protest

Bus to La Vega playoff game

La Vega High School’s football team will play Carthage High School in a 4A Division I state semifinals game at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. A bus chartered for fans and will leave at 3:30 p.m. from the school’s athletics field house.

The cost is $25 per person, and light refreshments will be served. Game tickets are not included with the bus trip but are available through Ticketmaster for $12 or at the gate for $15.
