Dwight Yoakam to perform at ball
Dwight Yoakam will perform at the American Cancer Society’s annual Cattle Baron’s Ball on July 23 at the Extraco Events Center, 4601 Bosque Blvd.
Ticket prices range from $100 to $300.

MCC summer session
McLennan Community College will conduct registration for its Summer II session through 6 p.m. Friday.
Classes will begin July 13.
Current students can register online through WebAdvisor at www.mclennan.edu.
New students should call the MCC Admissions Office at 299-8622 before attempting to register.
Soda Pop Camp
The Dr Pepper Museum, 300 S. Fifth St., is offering two sessions of a Soda Pop Summer Camp for children ages 8 to 13 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through July 14 and Aug. 8-11.
Daily themes for the camp will include create a soft drink day, soda jerk academy, soda pop science and pop art.
Cost is $10 per day or $35 for the week.

WPD National Night Out
The Waco Police Department will sponsor its annual National Night Out celebration from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 2.
National Night Out is designed to allow neighbors to present a unified force in the fight against crime.
Residents can register a block, group or neighborhood association party for the event through 4 p.m. July 22.

1971 UHS class reunion
The University High School class of 1971 will celebrate its 40-year class reunion July 29-30.
The event will include a mixer July 29 at Lake Brazos Steak House, and a dinner and dance July 30 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church banquet facility, 2610 Speight Ave.
The dance will feature entertainment by Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes.
Cost is $25 per person.

Seniors spelling bee
Registration will be held until Aug. 1 for the second Senior Adults Spelling Bee, set for 12:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at Central United Methodist Church.
The event, for ages 60 and older, is sponsored by Seniors, ETC (Enjoying Life, Trusting in God, Caring for Others).
Cash prizes will be awarded to winners.
