Ballet depicts Holocaust story
Ballet Magnificat Omega, a Christian ballet company, will give a free presentation of “Hiding Place” at 7 tonight at Fellowship Bible Church, 5200 Speegleville Road.
The ballet depicts the true story of Corie ten Boom during the Holocaust.
Joy’s School of Dance is sponsoring the event, as well as a two-day workshop Saturday and Sunday.
The workshop, open to ages 7 and older, will cover ballet technique, pointe, jazz and creative worship.
Cost is $45 per day for three classes or $15 per class.

VFW chili cook-off
Mart Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10426, 6889 Texas 164, will hold its third annual chili cook-off Saturday.
Setup is from 8 to 10 a.m., with judging at 1 p.m.
Entry fee per two-person team is $10. Prizes include a 50 percent payout to the winning team, 30 percent to second and 20 percent to third.
A straight domino tournament will follow the cook-off at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $5.

Arts, crafts workshop
Waco Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a Valentine’s arts and crafts workshop from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the South Waco Community Center, 2815 Speight Ave.
Supplies will be provided for the event, which is open to all ages. Participants ages 8 and younger must be accompanied by a parent.
Cost is $5.

Valentine’s Day dinner
The Waco Symphony Council is sponsoring a Valentine’s dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Palladium, 729 Austin Ave.
The dinner will precede the Waco Symphony Orchestra’s concert featuring Chris Botti.
Tickets cost $55.
