A former Gatesville pastor has been charged with capital murder in the March 2011 death of his wife, according to officials.
David Keith Allen, 49, is being held in the Coryell County Jail. It does not appear bail has been set.
Allen was arrested Tuesday night after a Coryell County grand jury handed down the indictment, authorities said.
It is alleged Allen’s wife, 54-year-old Paula Allen, was killed after the defendant intentionally set the couple’s double-wide mobile home ablaze in the early hours of March 22, 2011, said Coryell County District Attorney David Castillo.
At the time of Paula Allen’s death, the couple were serving at the New Life Restoration Church, located in the 400 block of Highway 84 East, according to church staff. The Allens’ home was located behind the church.
