A group raising funds for scholarships in the names of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents slain Feb. 28 at Mount Carmel is continuing fund-raising events.
Kay Trauhtschold said the group is still raising money for the ATF scholarships at McLennan Community College, despite a person in Houston who fraudulently presents himself as an ATF agent and asks people for donations.
She said the person is not affiliated with her group, and no one has tried the scam in Waco.
Group members ask those who donate to send their money directly to the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, P. O. Drawer 1220, Waco 76703.
“From there the money goes directly into the bank, and we are sent a printout,” Trautschold said.
The group will hold a golf tournament later this month at Western Oaks Country Club to raise scholarship money.
To ask questions, call either the club at 772-8100 or the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce at 752-6551.
