Election briefs: McLennan County party chairs, JP race

Karen Petree and Kelvin Williams are heading for a runoff in the race for McLennan County Democratic Party chair.
Petree had 48 percent of the vote, Williams had 30.5 percent, and Roy Walthall got 21.4 percent.
McLennan GOP chairman
Joe Hinton fended off a challenge from Will Jones for the McLennan County Republican Party chairmanship.
Hinton took 58.5 percent of the vote to Jones’ 41.5 percent.
Precinct 4 JP
McLennan County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Barbara Rusling Lloyd beat out challenger David Jeremy Hill in the Republican primary to secure a second full term in office.
Rusling Lloyd, who first took office in 2004, earned 58.1 percent — or 1,074 — of the total votes, to Hill’s 41.9 percent, or 773 total votes.
Rusling Lloyd will not face a Democratic opponent in the general election.
