An IRS lien against state Rep. Charles “Doc” Anderson has been lifted.

Last week, the Internal Revenue Service lifted an $11,500 tax lien the agency had placed on state Rep. Charles “Doc” Anderson’s veterinary hospital.

The lien was filed in late January against Anderson’s business because of a failure to pay taxes withheld from employees’ paychecks for the final two quarters of 2008.

It came on the heels of a $58,000 lien placed in December on the Waco Republican’s house for failure to pay property taxes.

That lien was released March 2.

After the second lien was filed, McLennan County Democratic Party chairman John Cullar called for Anderson’s resignation, citing a history of liens filed against the representative.

At the time, Anderson dismissed Cullar’s statement as campaign-season rhetoric.

In a phone interview Monday, Anderson declined to give specifics about how he resolved the liens, saying simply that “it was an obligation, and I took care of the obligation myself.”
