Mike Copeland: Female business leaders from across state bound for Waco

Leadership Texas is coming to Waco Sept. 20-22, bringing with it 120 women leaders.
They will attend seminars at the Waco Hilton, several of which will focus on health care in Texas.
Leadership Texas is sponsored by Dallas-based Foundation for Women’s Resources.
Women sign up each year to take part in the program, which takes them to cities around the state to hear speakers and discuss issues.
Cameron Park video
The Centennial Cameron Park video received rave reviews from the hundreds attending the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce mid-year banquet last week.
It was prepared by the city of Waco, under the leadership of Larry Holze, director of municipal information.
Holze said the city will make the 32- minute video available to civic groups and other organizations.
The video will also be aired this week on WCCC-TV, including at 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. today.

Jim Sirbasku Day
Wednesday was declared Jim Sirbasku Day in Waco, and a ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m. that day to honor the prominent businessman who died in February at age 70.
The event will take place at Profiles International, 5205 Lake Shore Drive, Building 1.
Sirbasku co-founded Profiles International. He also owned and operated Arabians Ltd., an Egyptian-Arabian horse farm in China Spring.
Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce chairman Terry Stevens and president Jim Vaughan are scheduled to talk at the event.
New Best Western
Crews are putting the finishing touches on a new 82-room Best Western hotel. The official address of the hotel is 200 Colonnade Parkway.
The hotel was built by Ramesh and Mayur Patel.
It will celebrate its grand opening by hosting Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Restaurant buzz
The Salty Dog restaurant and sports bar opened at Cobbs and North Valley Mills drives, in Ridgewood Village.
Owner Randy Crook said business has been great the past six weeks.
A new Mexican restaurant called Cancun opened at 2310 W. Waco Drive, in a building that was heavily damaged by an arsonist in October 2008. Owner Clifford Allen has remodeled the structure.
