Waco news briefs for March 11
Several local fish fry dinners are scheduled for Friday in Waco, including:
* Knights of Columbus Council 1358, from 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 19 and March 26 at the K.C. Hall, 5515 Sanger Ave.
Cost is $7. Proceeds will fund scholarships for high school seniors.
Takeout will be available.

* The Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court 385, from 5-7 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church, 1312 Dallas St.
Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children.
* Knights of Columbus Assembly 2391, from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the West K.C. Hall, 2547 Jerry Mashek Drive in West.
Cost is $7 per plate.
Takeout and a drive-through lane will be available.

Women’s conference
The Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will have its annual women’s conference from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Activity Hall, 2621 Bagby Ave.
The free event will include guest speakers, a luncheon, a fashion show, door prizes and the awarding of 51 scholarships to local high school seniors by LULAC Council 273.

Marlin golf benefit
The inaugural Pam Jones Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be at 1 p.m. March 26 at Battle Lake Golf Course, 4443 Battle Lake Road in Mart.
Registration and check-in will begin at 11:30 a.m. for the four-person scramble.
Cost is $60 per player or $200 for teams that register together.
Proceeds will benefit the track and field athletes of Marlin High School.
Registration deadline is Friday.

Little League fundraiser
Southern Little League will have its inaugural golf tournament fundraiser at 1 p.m. March 19 at Battle Lake Golf Course, 4443 Battle Lake Road in Mart.
The tournament will use a four-player, best-ball format.
Cost is $60 per player or $200 for teams of four.

VFW Friday Steak Night
VFW Post 6008, 725 Sun Valley Blvd., just off Interstate 35 in Hewitt, will have its 2nd Friday Steak Night from 5:30-9 p.m.

To Remember Is to Honor memorial T-shirts will be on sale from 5-7 p.m.
The shirts cost $20, which will help fund the rededication and reunion at the Waco Vietnam Veterans Memorial on May 15.
Efforts to reach family and friends of those who died in Vietnam are under way. Those with information can stop by the VFW on Friday.
The T-shirts list the names of those from McLennan County who are enshrined at the memorial.
