The nonprofit Wesley Woods Alzheimer’s Care Center’s volunteer charity board is sponsoring its annual “A Date With Dessert” fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the McLennan Community College Conference Center, 4601 N. 19th St.

The evening will include an auction, hors d’oeuvres and desserts from local restaurants and caterers. Proceeds will provide charitable care for residents at the center.

Tickets cost $40 and must be purchased in advance. To reserve tickets, call 666-5454.

BU piano concert

Eight members of the Baylor University School of Music’s piano faculty will present a bicentennial salute to Polish composer Frédéric Chopin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Baylor’s Roxy Grove Hall.

Bosque book review

CLIFTON — The Bosque Arts Center, 215 S. College Hill Drive, will present its annual book-review event with Marjorie Currey at 7 p.m. Feb. 25.

Currey, who teaches in the adult education program at Southern Methodist University and writes book reviews, will review Alice Schroeder’s Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life.

The Waco-McLennan County Library will present these story times this week:

*  “A Valentine Party!” at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the East Waco Library, 901 Elm St.

*  “Happy Valentine’s Day!” at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the R.B. Hoover Library, 1428 Wooded Acres Drive.

*  “A Valentine Party!” at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Central Library, 1717 Austin Ave.

*  “Happy Valentine’s Day!” at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the South Waco Library, 2737 S. 18th St.

Dive club meeting

The Bottom Time Dive Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Elite Circle Grille, 2132 S. Valley Mills Drive.

The club is open to all scuba divers, regardless of experience, as well as nondivers.

Nonprofit program

The Nonprofit Network will present the workshop “Steps to Protect Your Organization From Fraud (Internal Control, Fraud Risk Management)” from 8 to 10 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Texas Life Annex, 1000 Washington Ave.

Jerry Love, a certified public accountant, will present the program, which is geared toward 501(c)(3) charities.

Precinct 1 road work

Commissioner Kelly Snell reports that the following road work is scheduled in Precinct 1 this week:

*  Litter pickup and patching in the Downsville and Robinson areas.

*  Reconstruction on Wall Ridge Road.

*  Clearing right of way and reshaping ditches on Southwinds Drive.

*  Ditch work and installing culverts on Elm Creek, Porter and at the intersection of Franklin and Wade roads.

*  Bridge construction on Hobbs Lane.
