He was caught around 11:20 a.m. by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force SWAT team, Temple police said.

O’Neal has been charged with the shooting death of 24-year-old Paul Michael Caldera, of Temple, on Aug. 22.

Police said he fled the scene in Caldera’s 2000 gold Cadillac sedan.

Lorena police later matched the description of the suspect with Temple police. They said O’Neal stole a vehicle, a white 1999 Chrysler minivan, and sexually assaulted a woman in Lorena.

“We are thankful for the professional assistance and dedicated effort of our local, state and federal law enforcement partners that assisted with the tracking and capture of this dangerous fugitive from Central Texas,” Temple police Chief Gary Smith said.

He will be returned to Bell County in the coming days, a Temple news release said.
