A few kills, even fewer thrills

"The mystery's latticework of leads and reversals, red herrings and deadends can be numbing, especially if you know the outcome of the case, which requires three screens of typed epilogue."

Smart cop flick

"Unfortunately its cops sometimes seemed so annoying that I found myslef rooting for the killer instead, especially if I imagined as his next victim that guy in the audience who was stretching his legs on the chair in front of him."

"Good movie with suspenseful parts with some great actors. It was a bit drawn out though should have ended sooner. "

"This movie was fantastic. Bob Longino's assessment of this movie is exactly what's wrong with movie critics today. God forbid a movie about a real crime not make up a whole bunch of stuff as filler to make the investigating more interesting. This movie is very well acted and easy to follow if you just pay attention. It seemed like it was only an hour long not two and half, and to say it gets "mired in the inevitable red tape of police investigations" is a pretty ignorant statement seeing as the director was trying to stay true to what actually happened, not making up things to suit what some people would see as entertaining. All in all I believe this was an excellent movie and is worth the $9 and 2 and half hours of sitting. "

Excellent Acting, Boring Case

"People have a sick facination with serial killers and forensics, add in top notch acting and a great director and you should have a formula for a terrific movie right? Well, not if the director and screenwriter went for staunch realism instead of graphic artistic licensing. "Zodiac" delivers a LOT of great moments, but they tend to get lost in the tedium of the topic at hand. Police work is interesting, but the bureaucracy and paperwork are most definately not. Is this "Se7en" or "Fight Club"? No. But is it a solid movie that delivers across the board on acting, dialog, cinematography and directing? You bet your ass it is. Don't walk in expecting to be blown away, but expect your hair to be a little messed up. Good but not great. "
