"The only all red Triplane in WWI belonged to Manfred von Richthofen, the red Baron. He operated the flying circus.
He was killed by a Canadian farm boy in a dogfight. He landed his plane with a hole in his heart and was found stone dead in his Foker triplane after a good landing.

"I liked it. The flying scenes were very good and the story held my interest. Those were different times and I'm not sure that flyers didn't really act the way they did in the movie. Their lifespan was measured in days and weeks. I would compare it to The Blue Max flying movie (except it was the other side of the confict). I'm more of a military history buff than a movie buff so perhaps not as jaded as some of the other reviewers."

"I enjoyed the movie. It had enough ties to historical events to be interesting, yet had enough action so you could suspend reality for awhile and just enjoy the dogfights and cheesy lines like a kid again.
For those of you hoping for a historical epic, did you see the trailers? I don't think there could have been any confusion about the fact that this movie although loosely based on historical events and people, was for pure entertainment.
I do hope it opens the door to other movies like it, as I don't think Hollywood has given enough attention to that period in history.
