"Swank's misty-eyed Gruwell seems unfit for the edgy high-school classroom in an unforgiving society, but perfect for a day-care center."

"I just wanted to comment on the "Corny review" It is unfortunate that Hollywood has made some silly movies about white people saving people "of color." Unfortunately this isnt that type of story. Because its not made up by Hollywood execs. Its true and its told by those children "of color". I've read the book, and 98% of it is written by those children "of color"; which is amazing enough that these kids can claim that they're published. Anyhow, I dont know yet if the movie is any good, but the story these children tell in the book is magnificent. I literally choked up with almost every turn of the page. Regardless of race, this story, maybe not the movie, is a huge triumph for the human race."

"It's a must see for all teachers and teens! It is riveting and moving! You can never have too many movies about how one person can make a difference. Hilary Swank was amazing and Patrick Dempsey is 'mcdreamy' as always!"
