Mart residents are being asked to put off chores such as washing cars and doing laundry in an emergency water-conservation effort.
Early Saturday morning, the city’s water-well pump stopped working, according to a city release. Crews are working around the clock to fix the pump as soon as possible. Mayor Norman Hopping said the latest the pump will be fixed is Tuesday morning.
Hopping said residents in outlying areas may have water pressure for only about 30 minutes every other hour, but people in town aren’t expected to have a problem.
All Mart residents are urged to refrain from filling pools, watering lawns and other chores.

Hey WacoTrib why dont you pass this information on the the TV stations in the area, I just spoke to my mom who still lives in Mart and she didnt know anything about this. Which maybe something should also be said about the bacteria notices they get on their water bills too, boil orders are quite frequent there and the smart ones filter or boil water all the time anyway. Maybe if enough people complain about the city then maybe the state will come in to help with their water system issues .... I mean the town can come up with enough money to build a new school and football stadium, but where are the funds to fix the water systems. The school board didnt fork out the money from their pockets to build all of that stuff, they used the money earned from the football games and other athletic events, why couldnt Mart hold a fund raiser to get the water fixed, and as for the police getting busier, from what i remember they are busy enough, they used to pull people over for going one mile over the speed limit. That is not the problem, the problem lies with the city officals and what they do with that money, the roads are a mess and they think that by filling the holes with dirt and rocks it will fix the problem... yeah not hardly. Hopefully the citizens of mart will take the time to say something about the "great" water they have in that town, oh and not to mention the wonderful water pressure or lack there of, and maybe the city will finally do something about it!!

Mart seems to have a LOT of pump problems every year. Perhaps their police department needs to get busier and generate more revenue for public works projects, such as this one. Residents are urged to refrain from filling pools.....how many swimming pools are in Mart? Probably not very many. Hope the repairs go well and rapidly.
