Butter My Biscuit

Hours: Full menu available 4-9 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-9 p.m. Saturdays; partial menu served during King’s Landing hours, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and noon-6 p.m. Sundays.

On the menu: Scratch-made biscuits with meal toppings or sandwich fillings, baked potatoes, soups, salads. 18 different add-ons for biscuits and potatoes.
Good to know: Buttermilk and Texas jalapeño biscuits served daily with other flavors including garlic parmesan, Guinness “Irish tenor” and sweet biscuits. Bacon pimento tomato sandwich on biscuit or sourdough bread is a customer favorite as are Saturday morning breakfast specials.
Restaurant origin: Owner and head chef Lee Bankston opened Butter My Biscuit in December 2016.

Hours: 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays.
Takeout: Yes. Special orders also accepted.
On the menu: Pies in 16 flavors and styles including fruit (apple, cherry, blackberry, strawberry/rhubarb), chocolate, pecan, key lime, buttermilk and coconut.
Good to know: Sold by the slice, whole pie and mini pies (single). Crusts are handmade daily. Strawberry/rhubarb and raspberry/rhubarb are customer favorites.
Restaurant origin: The original Pie Peddlers opened in Glen Rose 15 years ago. Owners Summer and Wade Redwine opened the Waco location at Mary Avenue Market on June 23.
Krab Kingz XI
Food truck court at 201 S. University Parks Drive
Hours: Noon-9 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays.
Takeout: Yes. Phone-in orders accepted.
On the menu: Southern-style boiled crab and shrimp served with six seasoning/sauces available.
Good to know: Seafood platters include sides of potatoes, corn, sausage and boiled egg; one platter can serve two people. Cajun and honey-garlic sauces are customer favorites.

Good to know: Drinks include those from green coffee extracts and no-added-sugar fruit syrups. Chips and hummus made from scratch. Take-home meals prepared by CTL+ALT+EAT available. Lifestyle shop also sells hand-sewn clothing, custom-made hats, essential oils.
Olive Branch Express

On the menu: “Grab-and-go” prepared sandwiches, salads and chef-prepared meals from main Olive Branch menu, breakfast sandwiches and pastries.
Good to know: Take-home meals available. Frozen coffee, fruit slushes are customer favorites. Patio is dog-friendly. Location available for weekend rentals.
Stone Hearth Indian Cafe

Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays.

Alcohol: BYOB with corking fee. Beer and wine permit pending.
On the menu: A variety of Indian regional dishes. Curries (including tikka masala, vindaloo, rice-based biryanis, korma, saag, samosas, naan; desserts (including kheer (rice pudding), ras malai, galub jamun); lassi (yogurt-based drinks).
Good to know: Customer favorites include butter chicken, masala goli, goat vindaloo and saag paneer. vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Customers can choose from five levels of spiciness and order larger meat portions on dishes. Some customers order extra naan with meal orders.

On the menu: Southern home cooking with meatloaf, smothered pork chops, chicken, catfish, short ribs, barbecue; sides including mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, butter beans, black-eyed peas, yams.
Good to know: Specialties include oxtail soup, cabbage-and-greens and the Texas Fat Boy sandwich (one or more hamburger patties between two grilled cheese sandwiches).
Big Pop’s Old Fashioned Burgers

On the menu: Hamburgers and cheeseburgers with variations such as jalapeno, fish, chili pie, taco and chicken burgers; tacos, sandwiches, chicken tenders; sides include french fries, onion rings, fried pickles.
Good to know: Burgers prepared on site to customers’ request. Basket specials Tuesdays through Thursdays. Fried pickles a customer favorite.

Good to know: Meat and side dishes all locally sourced. Meat and sides cooked over a fire, not stove or oven.
