Sargent ~ Blum

Brittany Elizabeth Blum and John Cain Sargent were united in marriage at four o'clock, November 22, 2015 on the lawn at Sunset Cove Beach on the northernmost point of Sanibel-Captiva Island, Florida. The sunset ceremony was officiated by Brent Baker, friend of the couple and Assistant Pastor from Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas. Ceremony music was provided by the Vanderbilt Strings of Naples, Florida.
A black tie reception followed at King's Crown at South Seas Island Resort with a seated dinner and dance. Guests arriving for the reception were greeted with escort cards hanging from ribbons in a tunnel of trees at the entrance of the cocktail hour, which was held beneath a canopy of palm trees and cafe lights at sunset. Music for the joyous occasion was provided by High Voltage of Fort Myers, Florida.
On the eve of the wedding, a lovely rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents in the Auger Room at South Seas Resort, along with a welcome party given by friends at Doc Ford's Restaurant. The weekend celebration took place on the island where the bride's family has vacationed for three generations.
Brittany is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brady Alan Blum of Waco. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lawrence A. Jacobson and the late Lawrence A. "Jake" Jacobson of Waco, and Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Blum of Crawford, Texas.
John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wirth Sargent III of Highland Park, Texas. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. William Jenson and the late Mr. James W. Sargent II of Wichita, Kansas and the late Mr. Sidney Earl Cook and the late Mrs. Martha Curtis Cook of Shreveport, Louisiana.
The bride was presented in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father. She wore an ivory, custom designed A-line gown by Nardos Imam of Dallas, featuring a structured lace bodice with an illusion-V neckline, hand-stitched glass beads and flowing chiffon skirt. The veil and train were both cathedral-length. Bridesmaids wore light blue dresses by Watters from Stanley Korshak and groomsmen's tuxedos with white dinner jackets were from Culwell and Son.
Brittany carried a bridal bouquet of white peonies and roses, wrapped in the same ivory ribbons that her maternal grandmother used for her bouquet sixty years ago. All floral arrangements were designed by Jackson Durham of Dallas, Texas.
Assisting the bride as maids of honor were her sister, Caroline Abigail Blum, and close friend Shallon Michelle Hunter. Bridesmaids included Lexi Henson Alexander, Jean Simmons Arnold, Caroline Heard Drinkwater, Caroline Katherine Fair, Frances Smith Jackson, Sarah Virginia Johnson, Caroline Kaitlyn Rader, Julianne Dorn Taylor and Melissa Lacy Welker. The members of the house party were Jennifer Leigh Andrew, Mallory Cowan Broaddus, Pippin Clifton Hinton, Michelle Mayer Hofer, Brittany Jones Mathews, Sarah Elisabeth Morgan, and Emily Lowder Poe.
Attending the groom as best man was his brother James Wirth Sargent IV. His groomsmen included Ross Sargent, Ryan O'Dwyer, Matt Owen, Chase Fondren, Jacob Robinson, Ryan Byrne, James Blair, Robert Ryan, Matthew Rother and Jake Blum, brother of the bride. The bridesmaids and groomsmen entered the ceremony to "The Ludlows" by JT Horner. The bride entered to a "Trumpet Voluntary" following a call to worship around the anticipation of her entry. Bridemaids Sarah Johnson and Caroline Radar sang a duet for the couple, "Called Me Higher," by All Sons and Daughters.
Brittany is a graduate of Vanguard College Preparatory School. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Sports, Sponsorship and Sales Marketing from the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University, where she was also a member of Delta Delta Delta.
John is a graduate of Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Texas A&M University, where he was also a member of the Aggie Men's Club. John is owner of John Cain Photography in Dallas and Brittany has recently joined the business, where they also publish The Wedding Collective.
Friends held a Waco reception for Brittany and John on December 11, 2015 at the Junior League of Waco Clifton House. The couple honeymooned in the Virgin Islands and have since returned to Texas to make Dallas their home.
