Heisman posers

By Wendy Gragg

Football is the one sport I really get into. And my dad (a Spurs fanatic) raised me to especially admire athletes who also have a good head on their shoulders. Needless to say, RG3 has that and then some, so, yes, I've gotten caught up in the Heisman frenzy like everyone else.

I was super psyched to go to Congress Clothing on Speight Tuesday and pick up one of the adorable shirts they've been selling with a bear doing the Heisman pose. You can imagine my surprise when the sales associate told me that just that morning, they had received a cease and desist letter to stop selling those shirts.

I'm guessing it's a copyright thing with the Heisman pose, but what it really is is a travesty. Those shirts are so adorable! While I was in the store, countless number of people came in or called asking for that shirt. I'm sure the sales people are feeling like broken records at this point. I went back by Thursday to get a shirt for the Alamo Bowl (I'm going!) and there was no new news on the issue. Good luck guys, hope you get that worked out!

To ease my Heisman shirt void woes, I have found a wonderful new Heisman time waster: the RG3 for Heisman Facebook pics of people doing their best Heisman pose. The kids in the pose are super cute, but the adults are getting pretty creative now too. I swear, one of them appears to be a man using a newborn baby as the football. The setting even looks like a hospital room. That's dedication.

Alas, when I've forgotten about the forbidden shirt and once I've seen all the posed pics, there will be one piece of the Heisman pie that remains. That's the glow and pride that Baylor and Waco have in RG3. And the bragging rights, don't forget those!
