State House candidate lays out jobs plan

Roy Walthall — one of two Democrats running for House District 57 — complains in a recent email that a Tribune-Herald reporter "criticized my announcement speech for talking about the high unemployment in District 57 without giving any specifics of how I was going to solve that problem."

The Waco Democrat notes, however, that he's posted a specifics-packed jobs plan on his website.

It includes a passenger rail initiative, an appeal to deepen the Houston Shipping Channel and an energy proposal that Walthall says he hopes to move along if elected by acting as a liaison between the President of the United States and the Texas Governor.
