By Michael W. Shapiro

U.S. Senate hopeful and former SMU football standout Craig James will be in Waco for an evening tea party function.

Craig+JamesJames is one of a host of Republicans vying to be their party's nominee to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison. He gave up a gig calling games for ESPN to campaign.

Meanwhile Secretary of State Hope Andrade will be in town to tour ITT Technical Institute's local campus. ITT is a a for-profit trade school company with headquarters in Indiana. It opened a campus on Interstate 35 south of downtown about a year ago, offering classes in computer networking systems, computer electronics, computer-aided drafting and design, and paralegal work.

Just what we need...one more "representative" with a sense of entitlement.

Bob - you should read the deposition transcripts. What he and his son say under oath is much different than what he now says in public.

What we know of the TX Tech situation we get from the media. I heard his version on the radio and I don't blame him at all for what he did to take up for his kid at TT after hearing his side. Afterall, at the time, TT was the school of Mike Leach and Bobby Knight, not exactly good examples for youth. In fact, that is when TT began getting the reputation for having the most incorrigible student body at sports events of any of the major schools in TX. One just needs to consider the mindset at TT then (and maybe now for all I know -- their students are still very disrespectful at games).

He's destroyed 2 major college football programs, so he's overly qualified to go to Washington and destroy the rest of our state.

Standout? More like handout. Mr. James has more nerve than a bad tooth, showing his face in these parts. He's not very popular to sports fans around here and people out in Lubbock would like to see him tarred-and-feathered. Can't say as I blame them.
