Jardin de Jalisco taking over old Tommy B's location

By Amy Starnes

Jardin de Jalisco will be the name of the new Mexican food restaurant going into the former Tommy B's location, 900 N. Valley Mills Drive.

Business reporter Mike Copeland reports remodeling work is being done on Tommy B's and real estate agent Clifford Allen informed him residents can expect an opening in 30 to 60 days.

Work on the building was delayed slightly after someone stole parts from the air conditioning units on the roof of the building, Allen reported.

The name in Spanish means Garden of Jalisco. Jalisco is a region of western Mexico whose most prominent city is Guadalajara.

The operators of Jardin de Jalisco are out of California and plan a restaurant with a full bar.

@Sue...we moved here 3 years ago and have found several great mexican restaurants! Maybe you haven't tried the right ones or maybe you just don't like Tex-Mex?

The Mexican food choices in Waco are much more varied and of better quality than they were 5-10 years ago.

My wife and I used to live in Hewitt and almost 6 years ago we moved to Mexico. We enjoy eating at several of the Mexican restuarants in the Waco area when we come back to visit family.

All the Mexican Food restaurants in Waco are terrible. Maybe if you can't open a restaurant then you can open up a tire shop.

Is this (a) a Mexico food Mexican restaurant, (b) a California-Mexico food Mexican restaurant, (c) a Tex-Mex food Mexican restaurant, or (d) a mixture of all of the above? I do agree that Waco's restaurant scene is getting a little like convenience stores -- a Mexican restaurant on every corner.

The popular resort city of Puerto Vallarta is located in the State of Jalisco. Guadalajara is the largest city in the stste. Altos de Jalisco (the name of another Mexican restaurant, located in Hewitt,)is a region outside of Guadalajara,

Bada, I think Sue and Ruth could do with a stay at your fine establishment. Might loosen them up a little. I for one look forward to trying this place. With the California/Jalisco angle it might be a nice change of pace.

I'm so done with supporting whiny people in Waco. I can make my own whiny comments. It's just sickening how many of those people Waco has.
