'The Artist' opens Friday in Waco
By Carl Hoover
It took long enough, but the Oscar-nominated silent, black-and-white film "The Artist" opens Friday at Hollywood Jewel 16. With wins at the Directors Guild Awards and the Screen Actors Guild awards, "The Actor" is shaping up as the film to beat at this year's Oscars. And for those of you who missed the chance to see "Hugo" on its return to Waco last weekend, it's booked for a second week at Starplex Galaxy 16; screenings are limited, so check film times and plan ahead.
The other side of that is "The Iron Lady," "War Horse" and "A Dangerous Method" ("Misson Impossible: Ghost Protocol," too) all say goodbye tomorrow. "Alvin and the Chipmunks," however, is still playing . . .

We say "The Artist" up here at the Edina Theater, and it was excellent.
