Vanguard hires new advancement director

Vanguard College Preparatory School has hired Colleen Moran as the school's director of advancement.

She is responsible for admissions, development and alumni relations.

Moran comes to Vanguard from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, for which she worked as a recruiter in Texas and an admissions counselor. She has spent most of her career working for the University of Arizona, from which she received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

"What attracted me to Vanguard was my experience as a student in a college preparatory school," said Moran, who graduated high school from Xavier College Preparatory in Phoenix in May 2000. "I am a big believer in not only preparing for college but also for life, and Vanguard offers both to students. Being part of this environment, which I know first-hand fosters a lifelong love of learning, is important to me."

Moran succeeds MaryHelen George, who left Vanguard in 2011 after 35 years.
