Which restaurant serves the best pizza in Waco?
By WacoTrib.com staff
Any way you slice it, Waco loves pizza. We know there are some connoisseurs out there, so let's hear it:
Which restaurant serves the best pizza in Waco?
Just for fun, let us know who's got the best pizza you've EVER eaten — if it's somewhere other than Waco.
Our votes go to Rosati's in Waco and — for best ever — Pizza King in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They are very similar pies, but Pizza King gets the edge for its incredible cheese.
Rossati's!! Nuff said.
Baris has the best pizza, but so does Rosati's!!
Goin with Little Caesars! Cheapest around but still great pizza!!
My husband likes to go to Poppa Rollo's to eat because it is where his mother took him and his sister when they were kids. I personally don't see the attraction to the place. The service is horrible and the pizza tastes gross. I have told him in numerous occasions that the only reason I go there to eat is because he likes it. I would much rather eat cardboard than eat there. Sorry.
Personally Poppa Rollos is top, then it's a toss-up between Pizza House in Lorena and Mama Baris. We also like Rosatti's, but they're rather $$$.
NONE.All the pizza places are mediocre at best in terms of their pizza, but appalling in their service especially Poppa Rollos and Rosati's.
If we are being honest, my wife's homemade pizza is great!! I wanna *slap a green tag on it every time* and tell her it's too beautiful to eat!! (Oops, better hit *submit*, here she comes). <><
PIZZA JUNCTION IN ROBINSON!!!!!!!
Poppa Rolo's is still my favorite although I choose to order it take out because of the slow service. I remember Godfathers and yes that was a good pizza place. Haven't tried Rosati's yet but because of comments I will try this week.
I'm with Michael, CiCi's pizza is the ABSOLUTE worst!!! Now that place need's to be green tagged!
Rosati's? Poppa Rollos? Are you kdding? It's Baris by a long way. No other place is even close.
It's a toss up between Poppa Rollo's or Baris... they are worlds apart in looks and even taste, but both have great pizza! Did that guy really say CiCi's?!!! LOL! Geez!
You got me Joe. My bad.
Best pizza we ever had? At Ciao's in Rochester, NY. Their pizza Margherita was a culinary masterpiece.Since moving to Texas, I make our own pizza, also our own Italian, French, and Greek dishes. This place is seriously restaurant-challenged!
Rosati's is probably the best.Poppa Rollo's is disgusting. I have a vast group of friends who eat it weekly and swear by the place; I find the service bad, the restaurant dirty, and the pizza without any flavor whatsoever. You know - the way we used to rate restaurants and not based on politics! :-)McGregor used to have a place called Double J's (not to be confused with Double Dave's...) that was AWESOME. However, it met the fate of many-a small restaurants in McGregor and closed a few months ago. It was better than anything I've ever had!
First, I am curious as to why so many questions **in my opinion** section pertain to **food**? I sense a theme here; being that we in Waco are preoccupied with eating; which is why we probably have more than our fair share per-capita of restaurants, as well always seeming to be on the look out for more :>) As for pizza ... my favorite has always been Poppa Rollos ... going back to my high school days in the early 70's. Although I do remember Shakey's from the late 60's (was where Peking and now a mexican restaurant do business on North Valley Mills, next to Churches Chicken) ... they had great pizza too, along with a family atmosphere, a piano player, and even some thick wedge fries with great seasoning (fries with pizza was a bit strange).By the way, Poppa Rollos may not be the most modern building in town, but it has a old time charm that can't be duplicated by the pizza chain restaturants. They may not be the fastest place in town; but, they are **WELL worth waiting for,** always friendly and welcoming, and family owned (we need to support more of our mom/pop restaurants).Lindy
Papa Rollo has good pizza but they have very poor service. Now I go to Papa John's Pizza they have very good pizza and they have great service.
Mr. Wicked P, I can't define "porn," but I know it when I see it. If it tastes good, I like it, no matter where it's from.As for Brooklyn, "it's just a sin away." No, wait, that is "hell is just a sin away." ;) <><
Papa Rollos is the best!!! Even for a right winger!!!
Pizza is not my favorite food, especially being on a restrictive diet. But now and then a splurge is necessary. Since I found Rosati’s, nothing in the area can compare. I especially like the "white" pizza, it's kinda healthy and can't be beat.
Godfather's was the best.Pappa Rollos has good pizza with a long wait and very poor service. I haven't been lately because of their support of radical left wing politics.
As I read the question *Poppa Rollos* jumped into my mind. Sorry, *Food Monster*, you've had bad luck. <><
Pappa Rollos Pizza burned my food the last three times I was there. So I never go there. Don't understand why people think it is so great. Other than that I've got nothing for you. Waco doesn't really have a good pizza place. West might.
Absolutely CICI'S PIZZA on Valley Mills! Tha flavor, freshness and service are beyond compare. Where else can you get a pizza made with anything you want on it, eat as much as you want, and get the salad and dessert too for less than 6 bucks?!
Back when I was kid, I remember going to Shakey's. Man, to me, it was the BEST pizza I had ever had. Flaky crust, tasted good. Even the plain ol' cheese. Haven't found one yet that was any better. I used to think that Poppa Rollo's was good, but I was teenager..didn't know what good was. I think I was there for the half-yards...yeah, that's it. But my vote for Shakey's.
Rosati's, quite easily....
We've lived in Austin for almost seven years and my husband and I still love Poppa Rollo's. We're not there enough to care that yeah, sometimes the service is a little slow. We've tried pizza all over the place (most recently noteworthy, Lombardi's in New York City), but on its best days, Poppa Rollo's still gets our vote. Could be that we are usually there with people we love the most... the Gonzales or Lopez families.
Rosati's, hands down. And the best pizza ever would be the Godfather's in Fairborn, Ohio. Gone now, but it was the place to be in high school!
I don't know. My Doctor won't let me eat pizza anymore. It used to be Poppa Rollos, but their food is too inconsitent. One night it's great, another night its burned, and another night they just didn't get the proportions right.
Best pizza on Earth -- Poppa Rollos. It's more than just pizza...it's an experience.
Baris on Valley Mills is the best in town, and it's not close. The crust is that perfect thickness where you're not eating a loaf of bread, but it's also not like you're eating a cheese cracker. Also, they don't try to drown you in sauce like a lot of places.
Poppa Rollos most definitely for sit down. For take out Rossati's is awsome, especially if you have teenaged boys. Their pizzas are huge.
Mama Baris in Hewitt is the best! You can order it take-out, too. The cheese is thick and creamy and the toppings are very tasty and plentiful.
